A couple of months ago I got the itch…the itch to redo a room and get creative. I get bored so easily without a project on the go and since completing the majority of the outdoor reno and laundry I was left fiddling my thumbs. The problem is, we still have some finishing touches to do outside and I couldn’t justify an entire room redo when there really isn’t anything wrong with any of them.
I decided to give Kylan’s room a little facelift and give it a fresh new look without making any major changes (and without having to sell a kidney as let me tell you decking timber don’t come cheap!) Anyway, by simply throwing in a splash of mustard with accessories I was able to give his whole bedroom a completely different look and feel. It feels like this is how it was always meant to be. It has such a peaceful, calm, yet fun vibe in there now and I smile every time I walk past.
So, fast forward another few months after giving his space a new lease on life, and I have found myself with that annoying itch again! After realising what a difference a couple cushions and a throw can make to a room (without spending an absolute fortune on a whole new set up) I have been inspired to challenge myself to do the same thing again with a couple more spaces in our home.
I set myself a goal of refreshing both my master bedroom and living areas next, using existing decor as well as some new goodies to give each space a fresh new look and feel coming into summer.
I was inspired by ocean tones coming into the Spring and Summer months and went with a range of different blue, green and grey shades to give both spaces a completely new feel. Usually I keep colour for the bedrooms and out of the lounge but I was feeling a little adventurous on my shopping excursion this time. Whilst I didn’t go for big bold colours – there is a hint of colour there now and it brings something new into the spaces.
I will list the items I got after the sharing the photos with you in a SHOP THE LOOK part at the bottom of this post. I also found a nifty little piece of equipment which wasn’t on my shopping list but I couldn’t go past it…I have included that too!
AND THAT’S A WRAP!
I absolutely love being able to walk into a shop, pick out some new beautiful quality pieces and be able to give my home a fresh new magazine worthy look without breaking the bank. There were a range of different styles of decor in this new season range – I tend to lean towards the minimalism look and went with the cooler tones for refreshing these spaces but there was a little something for everyones’ style and budget! A massive thank you to Farmers for sponsoring this post and allowing me to freshen up my home with their gorgeous new SS17 range.
