When it came to choosing a theme for this years party it was difficult to say the least. (first world problems I know) We had already knocked out the lego theme birthday party but the Lego obsession had only grown stronger over the year. So as to not repeat the same theme as the previous year even though he was quite insistent on that, we negotiated and went with a Superhero Lego Theme for his 6th birthday party.
It was one of those parties that if something was going to go wrong it will. I have probably mentioned previously that my luck with cakes is not 100%. I have my good cake days and my bad cake days….Well this was a shit cake day. So much went wrong with it that there was almost going to be no cake. The cute little face who kept asking about his lego superhero cake kept me going.
When I finally managed (like an hour before we had to leave and nothing else was ready to go) to get the cake semi decorated and it was looking kinda okay I went to put the batman mask on it as Kylan had requested…well that was the moment it just became easier to laugh at the situation! I am a total perfectionist and if something isn’t quiet right it eats me up inside…Batman is still eating me up inside as I write this post 360 days later!!!
So you can laugh at my expense at the ridiculous looking batman lego cake that resembled nothing like batman and I will stop boring you with my novel. Apart from that the actual day went well. We held his party at the beach and the kids just spent the entire time playing on the playground as we relaxed under the trees. The food was all a hit…even the (I want to say retarded but I don’t think that is very PC these days) batman cake went down well. All that sugar and icing must have disguised the taste of the burnt bits!
We had some healthy food too, it wasn’t all sugar overload |
