THE BEGINNING OF THE PLAYHOUSE MAKEOVER

For Kylan’s 4th birthday we got him a playhouse. When we put it together there were pieces missing and it was TINY! So we returned it and I began hunting for a second hand one. I came across this bargain of a playhouse on trade me which needed a bit of work done to it but had the bones to make an amazing room for the boys which was a must have now that I had baby number two in the oven and the spare room/playroom was about to become a nursery. Even though it was a bargain it worked out about the same price as the brand new mini one by the time I paid for a hi hoist to deliver it but so totally worth it and still half the price of others I had seen online this size!!

                      

I don’t know whether Kylan was more excited about the big truck bringing it over the fence or the actual playhouse. The colours where horrendous and the roof had a leak and the floor was rotten and it was covered in animal hair but I could just see the potential!

          

The first thing we did was fix up that leaky roof. Some marine ply and my handy hubby and dad and it was good as new! We ripped out the wonky sheets of flooring while we were at it leaving behind the floorboard underneath which were in good condition.

          

Once the roof was done I could get stuck into the inside. A lick of paint and the whole space seemed bigger and brighter. It’s amazing what a bit of paint can do!

                           

So I threw in some old cupboards we had lying under the house and some of his toys so he could begin using it while I got round to painting the exterior.

 

 

                                        

                                        

 

                                        

 

Kylan loved the idea of having curtains so I whipped him up some new ones to replace the really scummy yellow ones that came with the house. I bought some cheap crates and painted them in the colours he chose to use as temporary storage while I planned the full makeover for the space! 

 

 

          

 

 

A few sunny weekends later and I had finished painting the exterior and it looked like a completely different house! So happy, bright and fresh!! 

 

          

          

 So now that the exterior looked good I began planning the interior makeover. This was still a little while away as I had my real house to contend with first! My bathroom Reno and nursery were now on the top of my to do list.
