DIY TOY BOX MAKEOVER

I love a good bargain, who doesn’t. And even more than a bargain I love a good Do-er up-er.

I took Kylan up to the school fair and stumbled across the coolest toy box that doubled as a seat. It was purple and covered in stickers but I could just see the potential AND it was only $10… $10!!!!

Not only did it need a good coat of paint, to function as a seat it needed a cute little cushion to go on top. So I whipped out the sewing machine and threw together this spotty cushion.

I spent a fair amount of time peeling stickers off of it (Kylan is only allowed to put stickers in a sticker book, once they go on furniture they just don’t want to come off!!). Once those were removed I gave it a good sand and clean to get it all ready to be primed and painted.

I had a little helper with this project!

Kylan really wanted to paint it his favourite colour….GREEN! I had to do a little bit of compromising here. I didn’t paint it green as I wanted to be able to use it for years to come without having to redo it when we changed colour themes etc…but when you open it up its a beautiful fun lime green inside.

I love how it turned out. It has taken residence in Kylan’s playhouse….keep an eye out, I will be doing a post on that soon!!
