WE GOT ENGAGED
Back in August 2011 Ry popped the question to me down in Queenstown. We celebrated with all of our friends and family and it was another great excuse to get creative and make a cake!
I decided to go all out and attempt a three tier cake. I branched out and tried out some new recipes. They were good but I have since gone back to my standard chocolate as it is simply AMAZING!
I did 3 different flavoured cakes. A dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate cake with the matching ganache. Decadent is an understatement!!
This one was my first attempt at trying out ganache. I loved it!! Chocolate ganache is DEFINITELY one of my favourite things to eat and it made applying the fondant so much easier as I was able to properly seal the cake and create a smooth surface to work on.
I was pretty happy with how it turned out! It took a bit of playing around to get the feathers looking decent. I struggled to create what I had envisioned with them as they just looked out of place when I first stuck them in!
We went with a purple and white theme for our engagement party. We carried this theme through from the cake to the rest of the decorations as well. The weather was not looking promising so we set up a big gazebo for shelter from the rain and put fairy lights throughout it. I also had purple and white lanterns strung around the gazebo and spotted around the house.
